At this year’s Windy City Open 2020 presented by the Walter Family, a joint effort was made between the PSA Foundation and Metro Squash, an urban squash programme, to fundraise and promote our great charitable causes.
This was the first year the Windy City Open featured the Dunlop Chuck a Ball Challenge activity and fundraiser. Supported by our sponsors Dunlop, the activity pits spectators against each other as they aim for a target on court, the winner being awarded a signed racket!
We also jointly ran a live auction for a sit down meal with PSA Tour star commentators Joey Barrington and Paul Johnson. All together, we managed to raise $6,710 between the PSA Foundation and Metro Squash!

Metro Squash did some fantastic work engaging with the Windy City Open 2020. They gave their students the opportunity to try out as junior reporters on court for some post match interviews:
Metro Squash also held a ceremony for a scholarship called the Liz Kutyla Miner Award. The award is presented annually to a MetroSquash female (usually a senior) who has demonstrated consistent athletic and academic pursuit and achievement. One of their staff members, Khadijah Muhammad, was a recipient of the award in 2013, and got up at the end of the ceremony to join in with photos.
We’re delighted to see community programmes engaging with the World Tour. We’re excited to see these partnerships develop as we further the impact these platforms can have on the communities the World Tour reaches.
