The ‘We Are One’ Fund – Progress Update

We Are One Fund Logo

We wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all who have supported us so far with The ‘We Are One’ Fund.

Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to distribute $70,000 worth of grants to PSA players in need from over 30 different nationalities and spread across the rankings.

Your contributions have made a significant difference to our players facing hardship. 100% of the funds raised have gone directly to the players, this has given them the opportunity to secure their health and well-being, allowing them to continue the pursuit of their squash career.

We wanted to share some of their messages of appreciation with you.

“These funds have helped me to come back home. Most importantly, it has given me hope to continue training. I am very thankful to anyone who has contributed to this initiative. These are harsh times and solidarity is hard to find. I am sure your donations have eased pain. Rest assured that I am giving my 100 percent in order for me to display my best level of squash once we get back.”

World No. 188 Miled Zarazua from Mexico.

“It really helped me trying to stay positive and motivated to train during these past months. It’s really hard to keep the head up when we struggle financially, so all the help we can get is welcomed at the moment.”

World No. 73 Rui Soares from Portugal.

“I have to thank the PSA for the initiative and specially the donors because of their generosity. My income mainly comes from coaching and it’s been 4 hard months. Summer is also a bad season for coaching and this summer even worse, so this money will help me so much to keep playing when the tour resumes and to keep training where I need. Again, Thank you very much to everyone who have participated in this initiative.”

World No. 222 Joel Jaume Izcara.

A full start of the Tour is still uncertain and with Covid still a global threat, the need is as great as ever. While we’re delighted by the fantastic support of the PSA Tour players from the wider squash communities, the funds have now been depleted with further players asking for assistance.

It would be a great help if you can share the fundraising pages we have set up, to encourage your friends and family from the squash world to come together and also support our beloved players. Or if you haven’t yet, feel free to donate any amount you’re comfortable with below!

We have now opened up a UK fundraising page that allows for donors to claim GiftAid, adding an extra 25% to your donation, absolutely free!

Follow either of the above donation pages and click on the share links to get the message out there on your social media pages. You can copy and paste the below text into your post if you’re unsure on what to say:

Let’s make sure the players we know and love are back competing on Tour when the season resumes! 100% of donations go towards supporting players whose basic well-being is threatened since the global lock-down.

We thank you again for your fantastic support. The togetherness and solidarity of the wider squash community is inspiring and we’re grateful to have each and every one of you among this brilliant community.

Keep safe and take care.

Yours sincerely,
PSA Foundation and Players of the PSA Tour.
