PSA Foundation launch partnership with Pontefract Squash Club & Rackets Cubed

The PSA Foundation have partnered with Pontefract Squash Club and Rackets Cubed to officially launch the first Rackets Cubed inspired model in Yorkshire.

Pontefract Sports and Education Foundation works locally to inspire success by providing opportunities to play sports and creative learning for children in West Yorkshire.

The new partnership will see Pontefract Squash Club host 20children from Airedale school every Wednesday for ten weeks in which they will have an hour of squash with the legendary Malcolm Willstrop, one hour of academics and a healthy snack after their session.

The PSA Foundation and Rackets Cubed are delighted to support the first programme of its kind in the Yorkshire area with the hopes to expand the programme to more clubs and schools in Yorkshire to help provide children from disadvantaged areas, access to a healthier lifestyle, increase academic performance and wellbeing.

The vision is driven by the increasing evidence that active children have higher school achievement and that nutritious foods improve classroom behaviour.

The positive impact has already been proven by the success that Rackets Cubed has had in London since its inception and the amount of interest and support that the model has gained rapidly.

PSA Foundation Manager, Adriana Olaya, commented: “Community engagement and grassroots development are key factors to safeguard and protect the future of our sport, which is why we are keen to promote the growth of these programmes both in the UK and abroad.

“We firmly believe on the benefits that squash offers as a sport, but most importantly, the importance of developing our squash communities at every level.”
